The Denver Broncos already have Von Miller under contract for 2016 after using the Franchise tag on him worth $14.125 million. But the reigning Super Bowl MVP is looking for a bigger deal.
According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, the word is the two sides are nowhere near close to agreeing upon a deal. The Broncos are offering about $18 million per year, which comes to $90 million over five years. Miller and his representatives are reportedly looking for a deal around the $22 million a year range, which would come to around $110 million over five years.
The first day of offseason programs for the Broncos began on Monday and Miller was absent as he is still obligated with “Dancing With The Stars.” General Manager John Elway believes that $18 million is a fair deal for Miller even though it would be less than Ndamukong Suh received.
The Broncos have a track record of taking a hard stance on contracts overall. They have already lost some key players this offseason with quarterback Brock Osweiler, defensive end Malik Jackson, and linebacker Danny Trevathan.
