After 2016 NFL Draft prospect Jaylon Smith stated that he was the best player in the draft, it seems as though we may have to wait a full year to find out if that’s actually true.
In a recent report from NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, it seems that Smith’s knee injury at Notre Dame is expected to force him to sit out the entire 2016 NFL season.
#ND LB Jaylon Smith, who was a top 5 pick before the injury, is expected to sit out 2016. Many teams believe he'll be back to form in 2017.

While there’s no denying Smith’s talent, it’ll now be interesting to see where he winds up being drafted. The former Fighting Irish star had 115 total tackles, nine tackles for loss, five passes defensed, two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble and a sack in 2015. It’s unlikely that Smith goes in the top 10, but will he be a first-round pick still? We’ll have to wait less than two more weeks to find out.
