13-year NFL veteran defensive back Charles “Peanut” Tillman decided to announce his retirement on Monday. He did so in a very clever way, by posting this video on his twitter:
Tillman was known for his “Peanut Punch” which he finished with 44 career forced fumbles. He played his first 12 years with the Chicago Bears before joining the Carolina Panthers last season. He finished his career with two Pro Bowls (2011, 2012) and was a first-team All-Pro in 2012 as well.
Peanut was just as good off the field as he was on it and was recognized by the league when he won the 2013 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award. Here are some reactions around the league after hearing of Tillman’s retirement:
