Word is around the NFL is that multiple teams are still interested in wide receiver Josh Gordon despite failing multiple drug test according to Josh Freeman of Bleacher Report. Freeman has spoken with sources in eight NFL front offices and confirms that if Gordon gives up marijuana then he will be on an NFL team even if it is not with the Cleveland Browns.
There is no doubt in Gordon’s talents on the football field. He is still just 25 years old with the potential of being one of the best receivers in football. Just look back at his 2013 season where he finished with 87 receptions for 1,646 yards and 9 touchdowns in just 14 games.
It is a positive note that his agent Drew Rosenhaus stands by Gordon and believes he will make it back to the NFL. This coming after Rosenhaus cut ties with Johnny Manziel until he gets help. Rosenhaus went on SiriusXM NFL Radio (via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com) to talk about Gordon:
Josh has been working very hard over the past year to get himself back into the NFL. Obviously there’s been a hiccup here. He acknowledged that. But he’ll have another opportunity before the season to show the NFL that he’s got his life in order and that he’s ready to resume his NFL career without any setbacks and I’m very hopeful that he will.
Gordon is able to apply for reinstatement on August 1st and as long as he doesn’t mess up again, he will most likely be reinstated.
