The Cowboys may not be pleased that their youngest star was videoed outside a weed dispensary last night. One thing is for sure, though, the young running back was out to prove himself in his first preseason game against the Seahawks. The Cowboys should have no doubt in Elliot’s ability on the field. He ran the ball seven times for 48 yards and even looked good in pass protection.
They might be a little wary of his off-field actions, though, as this is the second time Elliot has brought unwanted attention to himself this offseason. He was first accused of domestic violence against his former girlfriend. While those accusations appear to be false, there is no mistaking the young Cowboy in a video posted by TMZ. Even though Elliot is not seen buying any marijuana, even Jerry Jones admits it is not a very good look.
While marijuana is legal in the state of Washington, it is still a banned substance by the NFL. A positive test would result in a suspension of the running back.
The Cowboys will hope the young running back makes headlines for football reasons going forward. They are already littered with a handful of suspended players. They can ill afford for Elliot to become one of those players if they wish to capture the success they found two years ago.
