With week one in the books, we are ready to take what we have learned and apply it to week 2 when it comes to daily fantasy football. This week DraftKings has rolled out another Millionaire Maker contest for a $20 entry.
We are breaking down the top plays on DraftKings at each position, starting with quarterbacks. So here are the high-priced, mid-priced and low-priced top plays for week 2.
*Just to note, we will not be including Thursday night players in this write-up.
Top DraftKings high-priced plays ($7,500-$8,500)
Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers ($7,900)
Week 1 was not smooth sailing for Cam Newton in the rematch of Super Bowl 50. Against the Broncos Cam finished the night with just 22.16 DraftKings fantasy points. Cam and the Panthers will host the 49ers who are coming off an impressive win against the Rams. Some players might shy away from Cam this week which means it will be a perfect time to play an elite quarterback who will be lower owned than normal. At $7,900 on Draftkings, I see Cam as the top value play of the week overall. He should easily put up over 30 fantasy points this week.
Eli Manning, New York Giants ($7,600)
With the talented weapons around him, Eli Manning is always a threat in DFS. This week Eli should be in for a huge game as the Saints come to town. Last week the Saints lost starting cornerback Delvin Breaux was injured and will be out the next six weeks. So an already weak secondary is even more vulnerable and will have their hand full with Odel Beckham Jr., Victor Cruz, and Sterling Shepard. This week could be the best spot for Manning to completely go off for your fantasy lineup.
Top DraftKings mid-priced plays ($6,500-$7,400)
Carson Palmer, Arizona Cardinals ($6,900)
Week 1 Carson Palmer finished with just 18.94 (271 passing yards and 2 touchdowns) DraftKing fantasy points against the Patriots. He will be able to improve these numbers this week as the Cardinals will host the Buccaneers. I see Palmer getting over 300 yards and 3 touchdowns easily this week vs the weak Tampa Bay secondary.
Blake Bortles, Jacksonville Jaguars ($6,700)
Blake Bortles had a pretty average day fantasy wise in week 1 against the Packers. He did throw for over 300 yards, but only had one touchdown and finished with just 19.0 DraftKings fantasy points. This week the Jaguars will face off with the Chargers who are coming off a devastating loss to the Chiefs after blowing a huge lead. I see Bortles coming back strong in week 2. He is surrounded be offensive weapons to throw to including Allen Robinson, Allen Hurns, and Julius Thomas.
Top DraftKings low-priced plays ($6,400 and below)
Trevor Siemian, Denver Broncos ($5,200)
Trevor Siemian only put up 11.12 DraftKings fantasy points last week, but that was against the Panthers defense. He finished with just 178 passing yards with a touchdown and 2 interceptions. Week 2 Siemian will have an easier time airing it out as he will take on the Colts defense. The Broncos are running a more balanced offense with CJ Anderson on the ground, but at his price of just $5,200 Siemian is hard to pass up this week with his matchup. I see Siemian more as a cash play this week so you can pay up at wide receiver and running back.
Josh McCown, Cleveland Browns ($5,000)
The Browns placed Robert Griffin III on IR after hurting his shoulder in week 1 against the Eagles. So the man, the myth, the legend Josh McCown has now been named the starter. McCown is at the minimum price of $5,000 on DraftKings and will be hard to pass up at that salary. McCown has a history of explosive games where he puts up impressive fantasy numbers with his days as a Chicago Bear and last year with the Brown. His favorite targets include tight end Gary Barnage and running back Duke Johnson.
