DraftKings Week 3 Fantasy Football: Top running back plays 0. .

I can’t believe it is already week three of the NFL season. The key in daily fantasy football is to apply what you have learned in previous weeks and use it to set lineups for the current week. Make sure to check out the weekly contest at DraftKings, including the $1.25 million Play-Action where a $3 entry could end up making you $50,000.

Our focus in this article is the top running back plays on DraftKings so let’s get after it in week three.

*Just to note, we will not be including Thursday night players in this write-up.

DeAngelo Williams, Pittsburgh Steelers ($7,500)

After putting up 38.1 DraftKings fantasy points in week 1, DeAngelo Williams followed it up with 23.2 fantasy points in week 2. His salary has steadily gone up each week and is now $7,500 but he is still the top play heading into week 3. The Steelers will travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles who rank 27th in the league against the run. Williams should get plenty of carries and opportunities for touchdowns as the Steelers should be up early and often in this game. Williams should easily rack up over 20+ fantasy points again for the third consecutive week.

David Johnson, Arizona Cardinals ($7,700)

Even though David Johnson does not have quite as good of matchup as Williams, he is still always capable of going off for a huge game. The Cardinals go up against the Buffalo Bills who rank 13th in the NFL against the run. Johnson put up 23.2 fantasy points in week 1 and 17.3 in week 2. Johnson is always a threat because he can beat you on the ground or by catching the ball in the backfield and can score for anywhere on the field. But at $7,700 I have Johnson ranked second behind Williams based on price vs value.

Top DraftKings mid-priced plays ($5,000-$6,900)

Melvin Gordon, San Diego Chargers ($5,800)

The loss of Danny Woodhead for the season (torn ACL) means that Melvin Gordon’s value is at an all time high. His price is just $5,800 because they set the salaries before knowing the injury to Woodhead so definitely a great time to get value. Another reason to roster Gordon is that the Chargers square off against the Colts who rank 23rd overall in the league against the run. Gordon still put up solid number even with Woodhead in the game with 17.7 fantasy points in week one and 24 fantasy points in week 2. I see Gordon putting up even more fantasy points this week so make sure you have him scattered in your lineups on Sunday.

Frank Gore, Indianapolis Colts ($5,000)

I also like the running back on the other side with Colts running back Frank Gore. The Chargers are one of the worst teams in the NFL against the run so far this season. Even though Gore has not done anything special this season (11.8 fantasy points in week 1 and 15.3 in week 2), this matchup is too good not to have some action with Gore. With a price of just $5,000 he will free up some salary at other positions which could end up being the difference.

Top DraftKings low-priced plays ($4,900 and below)

Chris Sims, Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($4,900)

Another injury opens the door for a nice sleeper/value play in week 3. Chris Sims will be getting majority of the carries this week for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with Doug Martin out with a hamstring injury. It has been reported that recently signed Jacquizz Rodger will also split the carries but I see Sims playing majority of the snaps. Sims is talented enough to put up a 100 yard rushing game and could even get a touchdown or two this week. He is my favorite plays this week with a very cheap salary of just $4,900.

Jerick McKinnon, Minnesota Vikings ($3,800)

Do you see a trend here in this article? Yes, go for running backs who are getting more playing time due to injuries to their teammates. Just like Gordon and Sims, Jerick McKinnon will benefit from starting running back Adrian Peterson being sidelined due to injury. McKinnon will allow you to pay up at other key positions with a super low salary of just $3,800 on DraftKings. The only scary part is that McKinnon and his Vikings will be facing the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte, which could end up being a one sided game quickly.
