Andrew Luck has never been one to shy away from a hit, and now Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano is asking for some type of a change. Luck spent the bulk of the 2015 on the sidelines due to injuries, and Pagano summed up Luck’s style of play with one pretty funny statement.
“Get him healthy, keep him healthy, keep him protected, keep him upright,” Pagano Pagano said on NFL Network of his top priority for Luck. “He plays the position like a linebacker, with a linebacker’s mentality. He can’t do that all the time. We love how he can extend plays, but he’s got to be smart and know it’s OK to slide. You don’t have to take some of those hits.”
Pagano is basically saying, “Andrew, please, stop going out of your way to look for contact.” Alright, maybe he doesn’t actually go out of his way to take a hit, but Luck isn’t known as one of those quarterbacks who’s a big believer in sliding.
