Former Detroit Lions all-pro wide receiver spoke publicly for the first time since announcing his retirement back in March. He played all nine seasons in the NFL with the Lions and seven of those he had over 1,000 yards receiving. Johnson stated that injuries to his finger, knee, and ankle caused him to retire.
“My finger’s jacked. I mean, I’m beat up. After you play that long you’re going to be beat up, so it’s just a time where you are content with what you did. I wouldn’t just quit because we were losing. It was just body. I was just tired of it, fed up. Just had enough.”
Megatron plans to finish his business management degree at Georgia Tech and has no plans to return to the NFL saying, “I’m not coming back. You ain’t got to worry about that.”
