When All-Pro wide receiver Brandon Marshall is not challenging other wide outs for pink slips, he is dishing out the compliments to quarterbacks while appearing on ESPN’s “First Take” on Tuesday. When asked about his former quarterback Jay Cutler, Marshall responded extremely positive:
Jay Cutler can be an MVP this year. I truly believe that. He has all the tangibles. This guy has been taking guys all offseason to the side, bringing them to his house, bringing them to Nashville … I’m telling you, go to Vegas right now [and bet on Cutler].
Of course, there are some other factors that will determine Cutler’s season. First, it depends on if Alshon Jeffery and Kevin White can stay healthy the entire season. Jeffery only played in nine games last season due to multiple injuries and White missed his entire rookie season. The second factor will be the Bears running back situation. Matt Forte has joined Marshall on the New York Jets so it will now be up to Jeremy Langford and company to step up and balance out the offense.
Marshall also complimented his current quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick who recently agreed to terms with the Jets on a one-year deal. Marshall called Fitzpatrick “elite’ and even said that Fitzpatrick could throw for over 5,000 yards this season. “What does he have to do to be elite?” Marshall said. “Throw for 5,000 yards and get us to the playoffs? Ok. You’ll see.”
